Today is the day, we are about to head on a week long tour of Georgia agriculture. The stop I researched was our Vidalia Onion stop. Growing up in Georgia, I have always known about the wonders of Vidalia Onions but never knew the history behind it. During this project, I learned that a farmer in the Great Depression discovered this sweet crop and it became very profitable. This area of Georgia celebrates the onion every year with festivals and a famed mascot, Yumion. I am excited to use this trip as a learning opportunity to discover all our state has to offer.
