In a few days I will be leaving the country for a two-month internship in southern France. I’ll be staying with two different families (each for one month) but know relatively little about both of them. I’m sure they will be very friendly, but I’m not sure if they speak any English. I’d actually prefer that they speak very little because it would help me learn French, as long as they are patient with me. Learning French is one of my goals for the internship, but I certainly have a long way to go. Even though I’ve taken three semesters of French here at UGA, and spent a month in France last summer, I’m still not very confident in my command of the language. I’m sure that I’ll learn though 🙂

The internship will fulfill the requirements for the International Agriculture Certificate, so I hope I learn a good deal about agriculture as well. One of the families operates a vineyard, and the other has her own horticultural farm. I don’t have much experience with either of these, so I hope I’ll be able to help, but the language barrier may make it even more difficult. I’m sure that everything will turn out okay. I’m very excited and not at all nervous, and I’m very thankful for everyone who made the internship possible.
