BIFAD/IL Directors meeting in D.C. Aug 29, 2017 The Board for International Food and Agricultural Development (BIFAD) will hold a public meeting, on Sept. 12 to launch the new U.S. Government’s Global Food Security Research Strategy and to highlight U.S. Government, university, international agricultural research center, and private sector collaboration to end global hunger. The program, “U.S. Government’s Global Food Security Research Strategy: From Upstream Research to Development Impact,” will be held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., but broadcast live on the Internet. The summary of the U.S. Government’s new Global Food Security Research Strategy will be followed by sessions on “Cutting-Edge Science for Development” at 9:40; “Practical Applications of Research Results” at 11 a.m. and “Applying Research to Emerging Threats” at 11:50 a.m. The 24 U.S. university-led Feed the Future Innovation Labs (including the Peanut & Mycotoxin Innovation Lab) will hold an interactive science expo between morning and afternoon sessions. Finally, there will be two panel discussions on “Federal and State Investments in Agricultural Research” (at 2 p.m.) and “Leveraging Private Sector Innovation” (at 3 p.m.) A public comment session is scheduled from 4 to 4:30 p.m.
