Post Trip: Lewis Taylor Farms

My favorite stop of our spring break tour of Georgia Agriculture was Lewis Taylor Farms. What I loved most about this visit was how humbly Mr. Brimms shared his story with us. He shared with us the ups and downs of farming, dealing with employees, and government regulations. The most surprising thing I learned was how much H2A workers earn, and how many benefits they are provided as an employee in America. It was incredible to hear how well managed the 7000 acre farm was, and then to specifically watch how they seed Cantaloupe was new to me. Overall, this was a very well rounded visit leaving time for watching specific production practices, touring some of the row crops, and interspersing our time with questions and answers.
