Georgia Poultry Lab: Pre-trip

Georgia Poultry Lab Logo

The Georgia Poultry Lab Network will be one of our first stops on the Spring Break Study Tour. The lab  serves many purposes to ensure the safety and health of poultry flocks, eggs, and other poultry products. They work to prevent and manage poultry diseases and outbreaks state wide. The Georgia Poultry Lab is responsible for administrating the National Poultry Improvement Plan, NPIP, which is aimed at eliminating the Pullorum disease. This lab is very important to our economy because Georgia became the number one broiler producing state in the nation in 1951. I am very excited to see range of services that they offer.
